Antioxidants are key ingredients in skin care. And while formulators have incorporated these materials into their products for years, Dermarché Labs contends it is the first brand to enlist a full arsenal of antioxidants in one product that blocks a wide range of free radicals.

The Phoenix, AZ-based company—founded by the former leaders of Medicis Pharmaceutical (pioneers of Restylane, Perlane and Dysport)—came to New York City in June to unveil what it hails as a new standard in anti-aging therapy: BioRewind, a new two-part regimen.

Akin to how a broad-spectrum SPF product delivers protection from UVA as well UVB and IR, the cocktail of 12 antioxidants in BioRewind casts a wider net, so to speak.

“Not all antioxidants are the same. An umbrella of antioxidants blocks a complete range of environmental aggressors,” Esther Dong, senior vice president, general manager, told beauty editors. Dong joined the company in April from AmorePacific where she was senior vice president, sales and marketing.

BioRewind AM Full-Spectrum Antioxidant Serum includes a proprietary, full-spectrum antioxidant blend with vitamins C and E designed to provide an optimal defense umbrella while matrix strengthening peptides help support skin’s natural collagen and elastin. Finally, hyaluronic acid helps replenish skin.

BioRewind Pro-Grade Retinoid Repairing Serum, the PM treatment, features a proprietary retinoid version that delivers maximum results with minimal irritation, antioxidants, lactic acid and niacinamide.

Also on hand at the debut was Dr. Dendy Engelman, who also touted the essential role that antioxidants play in protecting the skin from free radicals

“Wearing sunscreen isn't enough,” Dr. Engelman said. “We need to add another step.”

The dermatologist also noted the lack of irritation she experienced with the BioRewind PM product.

“Vitamin A derivatives are a workhorse, but we frequently see irritation,” she said noting that Dermarché’s proprietary retinoid—which is linked with lactic acid—delivers all of the benefits “in a tolerated form.”

BioRewind is the third rollout from Dermarché Labs. The firm’s other products include Roloxin Lift, an instant winkle smoothing mask with “Silicalift” technology; and Fullfill, a hyaluronic acid topical wrinkle filler designed for crow’s feet, upper lip etched lines, nasoabial folds and forehead wrinkles and folds.

BioRewind will hit select Nordstrom stores and Sephora.com in September.
